HVD 2014!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  I can't believe it's been an entire year since I've written anything... I hope to do better with that in 2014.  Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with lots of chocolate and love!

Grumpy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day peeps, or should I say Grumpy Valentine's Day...  There have been endless fun "valentines" from the hilarious Grumpy Cat on Facebook today, so I thought I would share a few with all of you:

Have a fun day everyone, and hope you get lots of treats!

Groundhog Day 2013

Well, the groundhogs have assembled- will they see their shadows this Saturday?  Come meet them at the First Saturday Arts Market this weekend and find out!

Gordon has stepped up as the unofficial "Master of Ceremonies," I wonder what he has planned for Saturday...

Ginger is hoping for a nice sunny day- and perhaps some raspberries:

Gareth wants to try some of those infamous parmesan truffle fries:

Gauthier is hoping there will be some time for a nap- he's tired!

Gucci was wondering if there would be edible brains of any sort... I explained to him that we might be able to find him some gummi ones, and to please keep those thoughts to himself...

Graeme is looking forward to the festivities, but he is a tad bit worried as to what Gucci might do...

 See you all this Saturday!

Pirate Transport

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope where you are it isn't nearly as gloomy-looking as it is here in Houston today...

This is my first official critter of 2013- a commission for a friend.   It's one of my mini-Steampunk custom vinyl Jumping Brains, originally designed by Emilio Garcia, produced by Toy2R.  I've really enjoyed working with this toy platform- the paint settles into the nooks and crannies of the brain in a wonderfully different way each time, and it's easy to be inspired to create each "theme" with such an amazing shape to begin with.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and please remember to send lots of warm, sunny thoughts for tomorrow.  We've got the First Saturday Art Market, and we'd like to not be rained-out again... Thanks peeps!

Rain- grrrrr!

The First Saturday Art Market was rained out this past weekend, but we're going to give it another try this coming Saturday, 12 January 2013.  The critters and I were extremely disappointed, since we were looking forward to catching up with our friends, customers, and of course, devouring some of those yummy truffle fries from H-town StrEATS!

It's on days like that one must be uber-prepared in order to avoid any serious mishaps... I'd packed tarps, blankets (yes, it was 45 degrees out), clear shower curtain liners, garbage bags, paper towels, snacks, and water, in addition to all of the display items and critters.  Soon I am going to need an 18-wheeler  to carry it all.  Mother Nature better not mess with the Yetimonsters this time- she'll be sorry if she does...

We're Baaack!

The First Saturday Art Market (FSAM) returns this weekend!  This new season marks the ninth anniversary of the FSAM, and our third year. The critters and I have really enjoyed spending time with our boothmate Leisa, of McCordworks, during this past year- we're looking forward to 2013!

Here's one of my favorite photos from last September, on International Bacon Day.  Where else in Houston can you see amazing art, eat delicious food, and listen to great music all in the same place?  And... now we even have wine!

Hope to see y'all this Saturday!  Please send us warm and sunny thoughts- according to the weather report, we are going to need it!

New Beginnings

2012 was quite a year- it was filled with some of my happiest memories.  The critters and I traveled to many places across the USA, and finally got to meet in person many of the wonderful friends and artists we've been in contact with over the years.  We made several new friends as well.  As an artist, I feel like I finally made some headway as to developing my own "signature" style, and I am hoping my work will continue to progress along its current path.

2012 was sad for us as well.  We lost two of our dear friends, both during the last few months of the year.  I am at a complete loss for words right now, and I can't begin to imagine how their families and other friends must feel.

Ever year I have a list of resolutions that I undoubtedly never seem to fulfill, so perhaps this year I will abandon all of that...  To start with, however, I am going to make an extreme effort to spend as much time with family and friends that I possibly can.

Any new beginnings for you in 2013?
